bizarre news item

It's really how you view respect
these days. Respect for your elders (and the memory of them) took a
burying this week in two of the most bizarre news items.

First, Keith Richards was quoted in British magazine NME (New
Musical Express) as saying he had snorted his father's ashes mixed
with cocaine.

The Rolling Stones' guitarist said his father, who died in 2002
at 84, was cremated, and ""I couldn't resist grinding him up with a
little bit of blow.''

One of rock's wildest men, Richards' warned against emulating his
way of life. He has been on the ""most likely to die'' list for 10
years but has since been knocked off the list.

Meanwhile in Berlin a German woman's attempt to turn her father's
ashes into a diamond was halted by her grandmother.

The 19-year-old wanted to take her father's cremated remains to a
Swiss lab which can manufacture synthetic diamonds from ashes.

Her grandmother stepped in with a court order that her son did
not leave a dying wish to be pressed into a diamond.
